Simply charming antique French Jewellery Casket Hinged lid with red silk lining - circa 1900's
Outside is covered in a rich ruby red velvet with bronze corner decoration and a central plate - these carry typical Art nouveau styling - the key escutcheon on the front is also in bronze - the lid firmly closes - but sadly the key is missing.
Inside is lined in silk and has an inner tray- which is silk and velvet lined- there are two small silk tabs/handles at either end to facilitate lifting the tray out of the box.
This is just a delightful addition to any "boudoir" or interior and is unremarkably good condition considering it's age- still perfectly useable.
CONDITION There is wear to the edges of the velvet - this is natural and to be expected - the velvet is over a wood box and the box form is intact, solid and undamaged - the base has a heavy embossed paper which again is intact and with no markings- Inside the silk covering the hinges is slightly worn and split - but we do not think this detracts. The tray is in good condition - the silk tabs at the end are worn but still perfectly useable.
Please see and enlarge the photos they clearly show the condition and are a vital part of the item description.
